How to transfer a photo using NFC (Near Field Communications)

How to use NFC (Near Field Communications).  NFC is when you transfer a photo by touching the cell phones together or holding them close to one another (On an LG G2 T-Mobile phone or any other device that has NFC)

  • First go to the notification bar at the top of your screen, pull the notification bar down and scroll over on the icons until you see NFC.  Click on NFC and it should turn on.

  • Next go to your “apps” icon
  • Find the “gallery” icon and click on it.
  • Find desired album and photo and click on it
  • Touch the two NFC devices together (usually Back-to- Back)

How to Change Siri’s Gender on Ipad Mini

Siri’s gender is just a little amount of fun. If you prefer to speak to one gender or the other, Siri’s interchangeable sexes may be useful to you just in the sense that you might enjoy one or the other.
You will need: An Ipad or Ipad mini; opposable thumbs; a general sense that you are smart enough to do this; eyes, for reading.

  1. Press home button on bottom of blank Ipad; slide thumb across the Unlock arrow that appears onscreen.
  2. Find the app that says Settings; this should look like metal cogs.
  3. This will take you to a white screen with multiple tabs. On the left, find the tab that says General and press it down with your thumb.
  4. This tab will take you to a less crowded page with less options. There should be a few long tabs in the middle of the Ipad. Click the one that says Siri.
  5. Select Language. This will ask you what gender you would like as well as which Language you wish to select.
  6. Select whichever language and/or gender you want, and then press the home button on the bottom of Ipad to take you to the home screen.
  7. Enjoy new language and voice of Siri

How to Move, Group, Download, and Delete apps on Apple devices.

Need some help managing your apps? This may be able to help!

Moving Apps:
Step 1: Hold your finger down on one of the app icons
Step 2: All of the app icons will start shaking and you just hold down the app you want to move, drag it where ever you want to put it, and let go.
Step 3: Continue to move the apps until you have them where you want them.
Step 4: Press the home button and the apps will stop shaking and you can continue doing whatever you wanted to do.

Grouping apps:
Step 1: Hold your finger down on one of the app icons and all of the app icons will start shaking
Step 2: Hold your finger down on whatever app you want to move and drag it on top of the app you want to group it with and let go.
Step 3: Continue adding more apps to that group, or start another group.
Sep 4: Press the home button and the apps will stop shaking and you can continue doing whatever you wanted to do.
Note: You can access the apps in the group by tapping on the group, then tapping on the app you want to use.

Downloading apps:
Step 1: Go to the app store (the app icon will be blue with a white symbol on it)
Step 2: You can search for the app you want to download by tapping the button on the bottom of the screen that has a magnifying glass and the word ‘search’ below it. Or you can see what other people like to download by going to the top 25 most downloaded apps. (Also on the bottom of the screen)
Step 3: After you have found and tapped on the app you want to download, there will be a blue bar next to the app icon. It should say free or the amount of money the app costs. Tap on that bar and it will turn green and say ‘download’. Tap that bar again and there will be a pop up that tells you to enter your apple id. Enter your apple id and hit ok.
Step 4: The app will automatically begin downloading and if you go to your home screen the app you just started downloading will be there with a blue loading bar on it. Once the bar goes away, that means that the app is fully downloaded and you can begin using it.

Deleting apps:
Step 1: Hold your finger down on the app icon and all of the apps will start shaking
Step 2: All of the apps (except the preset ones) will have an x on the top right hand corner, tap on that x and tap ‘delete’ when the pop up asks you if you are sure you want to delete it, hit cancel if you decided not to delete it or if that is the wrong app.
Step 3: Hit the home button and the apps will stop shaking and you can continue doing whatever you wanted to do
Note:  You may want to log out of the social media apps before you delete them or else it will leave you logged in.

Thanks for reading this! I hope this helped you with your app problems!

New Features on the PS4 you may not know of.

New Features on the PS4 you may not know of.

One of the new features on the PS4 is the addition of options in the Playstation menu which you access by pressing the Playstation button located in the low center of your controller. While playing games, mostly first person shooters, your controller may start making noise at you! It is because of a speaker on the front. You can turn it off by pressing the button on your controller labeled OPTIONS and going down to adjust devices and the option that says Volume. You can also plug a headphone into the bottom of your controller to those sounds through your headphones and you have the option to either hear all audio through the headphones or only chat audio if you are hanging out with your friends and you want to hear them and perhaps talk to them through your headphones.

Another new feature on the PS4 is name requests.  This is when allows you to see a players real Name instead of their PSN ID.  You can send it to one of your friends and if they accept, then you are able to see their real name and they are able to see your real name.

If you ever decide to do this, do not worry about everyone knowing your true name or identity, because only that person can see your real name. To do this, go to your friends list and go to your friends then go to the PSN ID of whoever you want to send it to.  There will be an option right next to the trophy collection information that is labeled Send Name Request. Click that and if they want to they will accept and that’s how you use the name request feature on the ps4.

The last new feature on the ps4 I will be talking about and explaining is the trophy rarity feature. If you press X on your online ID it will show Trophies You Have Earned press X on that and you will see your trophy list. It will show all of the games you have played online that are possible to get trophies on. Go to whatever game you want to see trophies you have and ones you don’t have. It will show on the trophies how rare they are, based on how many people have that trophy.

Using the Help Menu for Microsoft Office

Ever not know how to do something in a Microsoft Office program?  Even the most advanced users struggle to figuring things out at  times.  This is why Microsoft has included a Help program that will answer practically every question that you could have.

In Office 2003, you can click "Help" on the Menu bar.

In Office 2007, 2010, 2013, you can click the blue circle with the question mark.  Or you can go to File and locate Help at the bottom.

For any version, hitting F1 will bring up the Help features.  Simply type in what you want to do and the program will show you a list options.  Scroll through the options and select the item that best fits what you are trying to do.

I often have students who become frustrated when they don't know how to do something.  Showing them how to use the Help menu puts a great portion of the learning back into the their hands.  Using the Help menu can be very empowering.

And if for some reason, you can't find the answer in the Help menu - do a quick internet search.  Between those to resources, you should be able to figure out how to do anything in Microsoft Office.
